How often, while at work, you make yourself a coffee in a plastic cup? Or, if you are lucky, in a paper cup? Of course, I'm talking about disposable cups. The same happens in cafes: you get a coffee to take away thinking that, at the of the day, one cup more or one less that ends in the trash is not going to make a difference. Yet, a mountain of paper and plastic cups goes to waste every day, and that does make a difference.
Our friends at Kaffeeform, after years of testing and research, finally did it: every evening a bicycle courier collective collects the coffee grounds produced during the day by the best cafes in Berlin and delivers them to the Kaffeeform laboratory. The grounds are then mixed with biopolymers obtained from wood processing, starch, resins and natural waxes, to create robust, durable, and dishwasher-safe cups and saucers: an otherwise wasted resource becomes raw material. They can last for years, like a ceramic mug, but they're stronger and lighter.
What if the products you get are not how you expected them to be? What if you don't like that coffee that was supposed to be so good? And if you suddently turn to veganism the day after purchasing a Ciauscolo salame?
